Machbet After the Murder

Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, after the murder of Duncan

From the story we know that Machbeth felt guilty immediately after killing Duncan, and his wife Lady Macbeth tried to make him feel comfortable and courageous.
The reason I've choosen this picture is that how much it expresses and shows those feelings. When you look at the face and the mimics of Macbeth, even someone who doesn't know the story can understand that this man has a fear of something. And when somene again who doesn't know about the story looks at the face of Lady Macbeth, can understand that she is feeling more determined and maybe a little angry to Macbeth, and the relationship between them at that moment.
Another thing is that you can see the body of Duncan lying on the bed behind, and the daggers Macbeth's holding. This pretty much explains the whole story, and the reason of why Macbeth's feeling regret and fear.
The interesting thing for me in this picture is that how much you can understand everything only from a picture.

  1. Wow, this picture is like reading my mind. As you said we can clearly see Macbeth's hesitation and he is even afraid of looking at the crime scene. On the other hand, Lady Macbeth seems angry because of her husbands "nature" and she is like saying "You coward! Give me those daggers!".

  2. Lady Macbeth's husband is frightened to look where the crime has happened but Lady Macbeth is the opposite of her husband. She is courageous about the crime and angry to her husband about his frightening about the crime. But in my opinion Lady Macbeth's reaction is not normal.
