  1. This happens to me all the time. I keep thinking about a specific thing for days and can't help it. Last month, I read an article about breathing patterns and after that I interrupted my reflexive breathing each time thinking about it for days. I don't know how I stopped it exactly, but it was a painful experience. In the play, Macbeth is experiencing something similar. A small thought alters his train of thoughts and twists his mind so badly that even though he knows the vision is fake, he can't dismiss it.

  2. Thank you for the post. I think this tells us a lot about the Macbeth's psychology and how he was fighting his own thoughts. The dagger incident might be the exact beginning of his descent into paranoia.

  3. Great post. This really helps us understand Macbeth and sympathize with him. We really aren't so different from him, although he's a crazed Scottish tyrant!
