The spooky scene

Hello,

This picture of the encounter with the witches which is almost black and white captures the very image of all the characters that were in the scene. As this scene of the play is a turning point because from this moment on, Macbeth started to really consider the plan he and Lady Macbeth thought through earlier also Banquo started having spooky feelings about the future of himself and his friend Macbeth. The way the witches were described in the play is dark and unpleasing. The weather also suits this description. This picture also has a dark background with witches looking like ghost. The picture very effectively captures how the news from the witches effect Macbeth and his friend in different ways. In the picture, Banquo has a frightened and an uneasy expression as he doesn’t trust the witches while Macbeth looks more aggressive and demanding toward the witches as we later see that Macbeth is upset when they leave because he wants to receive more information about the future from them.

  1. You both like the way the painter expresses the scene in his/her painting. Maybe that is because the painter uses only black and white. A moment of silence for our old author Alberti...
