Description of Macbeth and Lady Macbeth's relationship

I found this image interesting because it depicts the relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth. We see Macbeth as a reluctant but ambitious person, disturbed by what he did. This is evident from his expressions and the daggers in his hands. On the other hand, Lady Macbeth stands there giving her support to Macbeth with a look of steely determination on her face.

  1. I like this picture because it suggests a way of staging the action, in this crucial moment when Macbeth is about to go kill Duncan. We can see here that he wants to run away from the crime, but Lady Macbeth holds him, stops him, almost pushes him back in the other direction. It's interesting to think about how this would be communicated on stage, especially if most of the spectators would be far enough away that they can't see detailed face expressions...
