  1. This is very typical of Kant's moral and ethical thinking. Like most good Protestants, he believes in the importance of the inner world of thoughts and intentions. But the idea that we can be guilty for thinking something bad seems kind of crazy! Nietzsche and Freud are much more realistic when they ask us to recognize that there are parts of us that may seem very evil, aggressive, bizarre, and incomprehensible, but that we should not try to repress or eliminate them. Humans are complex creatures, and aggression is a big part of our nature.
