    After reading Alberti's detailed drawing techniques book, some posts on Instagram grabed my attention. They are called as dot work and/or dot art. In these kind of paintings, artists can choose any color and tool as long as it is a black sharp-pointed pen!

    The density of darkness is used to express borders, shadows, corners, concave and convex surfaces and the difference of slopes of hillsides. It is also used to create a perception of depth on a Two-Dimensional paper. Such kind of technique obviously inspired from lights and shadows. It falls in contrast with the whiteness of the paper in order to show bright areas of surfaces.
