Painting and Life

When I watched the video named “Building the Picture”, I thought that there is high correlation between art and life. We live in nature and we need to realize and observe it. Otherwise we may be in a life which has no meaning for the world. As Alberti says there is a value of studying the nature. In my opinion by saying “studying” we do not really need to study about it. It is enough to knowing what, why and which we are living for. Just thinking about what is going on around us and where we are at this environment would make us realize and change something about our lives. As it is stated in the video, just like entering another space while watching a movie, if we stop for a moment and start to think about these ideas we would be entering another space in our lives and in our minds.

In the video a painting is showed and in that painting very back of it there is street and daily life at that street is painted. When I looked the painting at first I did not see that detail. It is like a painting in another painting. This situation is very similar to our daily lives. Because while we are concentrated on just our jobs or daily routine we miss the other going lives and we cannot realize them. However, if we become more educated, we could see what is going on at background and we could understand the meanings of even very little details. If we start looking with that perspective, we would start doing it every time and every day. This will be returned back to us as knowledge.

In the video it is talking about the imagination is key of entering another world. As Alberti thinks I think that the more knowing about nature and how it works gives us the more imagination. When we imagine just like the painting, we can observe more scenes about the whole life. As a result, we will not be people who only know what they are doing, we will be wiser and be aware of the meanings of whole picture. Because the picture does not consist of only the place where we are looking, there are little or big details which give sense to whole picture.
