Knowing How To Be Bad

In the Prince, Machiavelli explains how to gain power in the first part of the book but the second part of the book is more interesting, "maintaining the power you got". In the second part he says that in order to hold your current power you have to know how to manipulate the people you rule. In other words you have to know how to be bad. And this is interesting because he doesn't care about the punishment which will become in hell if you are a bad person according to Christianity.
