Encyclopedias and dictionaries during the enlightenment

In ancient times, encyclopedias and dictionaries could only be obtained by the elite part of society and would contain only definitions. These definitions were mostly not about science or secular affairs but more about theology. The renewal of dictionaries and encyclopedias was part of the enlightenment movement. Now not only the elite but also the middle classes could have access to knowledge, and not only theology, but sciences, mathematics and government. The flow of dictionaries and encyclopedias to the common household would mean a more enlightened society. İt's practical it came during the Enlightenment period !
