Cassier is agree with Decarts’ ideas in a large extent. Casier’s statement of: “Decart developed an instrumental view of knowledge and the mind” is serve Decart’s purpose of writing since he aimed to show how he use his mind as tool in order to find true knowledge about the world. He just try to make people to build their own method to use their mind by telling how he conduct his mind. Thus it can be said that Decart developed instrumental view to obtain true knowledge. According to Decart, the difference between people is because of knowing how to use their mind when they seek the truth not because of some of them are smarter or more intellectual.
Cassier also supports Decarts ‘idea about looking external world might be deceive by saying: “Thought cannot turn toward the world of external objects without at the same time reverting to itself”. According to Decart the knowledge about external world is obtained through our perception and sensation which can be changed person to person. For that reason he argues that we need to look our inside referring our mind and hearth.
On the other hand, Cassier is wrong about his claim of epistemological skepticism. Although Decart focus argues that knowledge must be tested and do not accept anything which has not empricially proven. .He states that he avoid to act as a skeptics since they merely sake of doubting. His only concern was about make sure about the truth of knoledge when he was questioning knowledge.
