Mottos enligthen our idle lives

If you ask me what is enlightenment, I can sincerely tell you that being enlightened is to realize your purpose of life. If you just obey something or somebody, you waste  both your and our time. As an individual you can take part in the social system.  To achieve this, you must dare to question your place in the society and always try to add something new to the society. first step of this achievement is determining a private motto that explains your purpose of life.

  1. You are right. I also think that enlightenment is born from getting rid of all kinds of norms, and it occurs new perspectives towards our lives. For instance, in cave allegory in Plato's Republic, it is also stated that being enlightened is hard to reach but whenever you reach, you cannot turn back; in other words, you totally change as a person with the enlightenment. However, instead of questioning their place in the society, people usually choose to accept the situations which the rulers organize and they prefer to fit in society, instead of being an individual. In a nutshell, free mind opens the individuality, so that who thinks independently can reach the enlightenment.

  2. You are saying that enlightenment is to realize your purpose of life. It is in a way true. However; If one's purpose of life is wrong for some who has much greater knowledge than him, what is the point of realization of your life? If there are people like Descartes or Platon who have much greater knowledge than us, saying that your purpose of life is wrong, I cannot be an enlightened person. Therefore; I think, definition of your enlightenment should be extened in a way that enlightenment is to comprehend your purpose of life with great knowledge. Without great knowledge, people are never going to be sure that they are in the right path.
