Marvelous plan of Machiavelli and Da Vinci

Hello everyone,
today I would like to talk about a plan that was made 500 years ago. It is a plan on STEALING A RIVER!!!!

Link for the picture: Argo River

Back in 1500's Florence and Pisa were rival cities. These cities were attacking each other and so on. During these times Niccolo Machiavelli was in charge of the city, Florence. After some time Machiavelli hired Leonardo Da Vinci (the Renaissance Man) to come up with a way of stealing the Arno river from Pisa. Well I should admit that Machiavelli was a smart guy, but this idea of stealing a river is a bit fantasy I suppose.

The idea behind stealing the Arno river was to divert this river away from the Pisa city. This would leave the Pisa to drought whereas Florence would turn out to a wealthy city with the water that is brought from the Arno.

Machiavelli has given this job to the Renaissance Man since he was one of the most famous engineer is the following era. Leonardo has came up with many drawings of the river in order to find the positions of the  canals that are going to be build up.

However the plan of Leonardo Da Vinci has not worked out as they were hoping it to be.

Another fun fact:
The river in the background of Mona Lisa painting is claimed to be the Argo.
(Although I am not quite sure about the validity of this information)
