First Assigment

While I was looking for topics for the first assigment the most interesting one is the second header of the guideline which is related with videos. All of these videos are categorised under same topic which is "Building the Picture". While in the class we have talked about lot of diffrent aspects of the paintings, like harmony, historia etc.. However, the video which name is, John David Rhodes: Entering the Picture  seems quite interesting for me.

First of all, I tried the create connection in between "Building In Picture" and "Entering the Picture". After a while when the video is done, I recognized and understand that the common point of these two ideas is based on the small pieces. What makes qualified and remarkable paint or an art is related with their detailed pieces. "Entering a Picture" side of the idea is explained on video. From the video we can observe the importance of the details,(starts at 1:16)  speaker said that "as we move to the picture we notice these small detailes  of every day life". However, when we consider the more general term which is, "Building a Picture", we can get help from Alberti's definition of how to create an art work. "The fundamental principle will be that the steps of learning should be sought from Nature: the means of perfecting our art will be found in diligence, study and application. I would have those who begin to learn the art of painting do what I see practised by teachers of writing. They first teach all the signs of the alphabet seperately, and then how to put syllabes together, and then whole words."(page 89  paragraph 55). Both examples are great evidence to compehending the details of picture is the essence for it.

All in all, from my point of view, what makes picture remarkable is hidden on its details. As a viewer, from now on I will be more careful about the details of the pictures and art works.
