4 Years on a Single Painting

Let's have a talk about that title.

After researching for some interesting facts about the renaissance, I've learnt that there was a painting which took 4 years to make. If it didn't sound as much, think of it like taking the same class for the 4th time. It has to get boring after some time.

Alright, so here is the painting and it is done by someone called Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512. (The first time I've seen the name Michelangelo, I remembered this)

When we take a look at the painting, we are able to see some details and rules mentioned by Alberti in his book On Painting
  • Light colors are next to dark ones
  • Usage of four true genera colors
  • Hair and clothing physics wave upwards
  • Some bodies facing towards us and some others going away
  • (Add to this list in the comments section if you've seen more)
In conclusion, this is a great piece of art. Maybe Michelangelo read Alberti's book (1435) before painting this one. I did some research about that but couldn't find any info. Make a comment if you find anything about it.
