Islam and painting

Hello fellow bloggers,

Teacher mentioned about Islam's prohibition of painting in the class. I did a little research about it and found some interesting stuff. It turns out it is a big deal! A hadith states that once angel Gabriel did not enter Prophet's house and when asked, Gabriel said angels do not enter houses with "a dog or picture".

The reason behind this prohibition is that people are not allowed to "imitate God in act of his creation". Although, there are some exceptions. Children, their mothers/parents and teachers are allowed. Generally, it is not allowed to draw things with soul or things that can THINK.

You can hear on this topic from scholar Dr. Zakir Naik and read great reply by some guy on stackexchange website. The links are provided below.

  1. You are welcome. That hadith may as well be "weak" one.
